2010 Cell Biology

Description:
This event is usually done as stations that teams rotate through.  It can also be done as an individual test taking event, where each station has been copied into a test booklet for the team.  Teams may be viewing any combination of specimens, models, pictures, diagrams/charts, or recorded/written descriptions. They will then be asked to perform tasks and/or answer questions (multiple choice, fill in the blank, identification, short answer, etc)  related to the samples including but not limited to: Biological monomers and polymers, pH, enzymes, types of cells, cell structures, functions, activity, and cell cycle. The topic for the 2010 Tournament season is cell biology and cellular chemistry. A more complete list of sub-topics can be found in the official rules.

Materials:
Teams MUST bring a writing instrument and chemical splash safety goggles. Teams may also bring 2 NON-programmable calculators and one 8.5x11" two-sided page of notes with information in any form.

Event Leaders will provide any specimens or samples or other materials needed for the test, and the official test.

Scoring:
High score wins. Questions have pre-assigned point values. Predetermined questions will be used to break ties.
