2010 Remote Sensing
Division: C - High School
Event Area: Science Processes and Inquiry Skills
National Event Page: Remote Sensing

Description:
This event is typically a sit down test, where all maps, pictures, graphs etc. have been copied for each team.  Remote Sensing uses cameras, radar, satellite imagery, etc to capture the spectral and spatial relationships of objects observed from a distance.  From this information, teams will be given 3 tasks, to analyze and interpret causes, consequences, and perform data analysis related to the topic.  Teams should be familiar with terms, concepts, and principles of forest biomes and satellite imagery.  The topic for the 2010 tournament is the causes and consequences of human interaction with forest biomes.

Materials:
Teams MUST bring a writing instrument. They may also bring five 8.5”x11” two-sided sheets of paper containing whatever information they choose. Teams may also bring up to 2 NON-graphing calculators.

Event Leaders will provide the official test and answer sheet, and any charts/data required to complete the test.

Scoring:
High score wins. Points are earned for every correct answer. Predetermined questions will be used to break ties.
