First Place Overall Winner Qualifiers for the 2008 State Tournament
Dear First Place Overall Event Winners, Coaches, and Chaperones,
Congratulations to all of you on your wonderful accomplishments of placing first overall in events at your regional tournament. The event or events that you placed first overall in at the regional tournament are the ONLY events that you are qualified to compete in at the State Tournament. In the table below you will find your school name and TEAM NUMBER along with the event(s) you are qualified to compete in.
Only the students that participated in the event at the regional competition are allowed to compete at the State Competition. NO SUBSTITUTES ALLOWED. All First Place Overall Winners representing a particular school are assigned the SAME TEAM NUMBER. Take special note of your TEAM NUMBER. The TEAM NUMBER is IMPORTANT! If your TEAM NUMBER is EVEN then you will follow the EVEN SCHEDULE. If your TEAM NUMBER is ODD then you will follow the ODD SCHEDULE. Please click the link to “Schedules” in the menu bar to the left to determine the time and location of your event.
If your names are listed below then you are registered for the State Tournament. You are invited to come enjoy the activities on Friday or just show up for your event on Saturday. If you arrive on Friday, please check in at Engineering Building 2 1226 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. If you arrive on Saturday, please check in at Reynolds Room 123. We will give you a packet that will include the program and other announcements. When you check in your must submit two forms: a vandalism and behavior form AND a photo consent form. We must have these in order for you to participate
All First Place Overall Winners are invited to participate in all the activities offered at the State Tournament. You should become very familiar with the State Tournament website. This site is being updated daily and you should check it daily for any important announcements and updated information. Below are some tips for getting the most out of the North Carolina State Tournament:
PRINT EVERYTHING from the State Tournament web site the night before the tournament and put it in a 3 ring binder to have with you at all times.
Arrange for lodging. Be sure to check hints for this on this site.
Arrange for transportation to the tournament. Parents and chaperones can take the place of the “coach” of the school team.
Check on any liability statements you need to have signed by parents, etc.
Think about food for the actual Saturday, April 8, event and suggestions on our site.
BE SURE to check the weather ahead of time and prepare students for being outside for Bottle Rocket as well as going between events.
Go to the Physics and Chemistry shows, and NanoDays that are running Friday afternoon, April 4, at the College of Engineering during Registration. We would love for all First Place Overall Students to check-in on Friday and to be able to participate in the shows and the Opening Ceremony. This is a wonderful part of the experience of being at the State Tournament.
Participation in the Opening Ceremony is option, but higly suggested. First Place Overall Winners will be recognized after the teams are recognized. All First Place Overall Winners may line up for the parade of champions behind all teams.
Continually check the State Tournament webpage for updated information. Also, please check there for answers to any questions before e-mailing.
