We would like to work with teachers, schools, school systems, and/or PTAs interested in having their students participate in Science Olympiad at the elementary level. Specifically, we are looking for sites that are willing to host Elementary Science Olympiad Tournaments for grades 3-6 students. These tournaments are academic interscholastic competitions which consist of a series of individual and team events which students prepare for during the year. The competitions follow the format of popular board games, TV shows and athletic games. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of life science, earth science and physical science. There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and applications. The events were also chosen because of their strong relationship to the existing 3-6th grade North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
Teams are made of up to twelve students and schools may have multiple teams. Team should have a balanced representation of grades, gender, and ethnic background represented by the school. In all cases, each team must be supervised/coached by a parent/teacher/coach.
