Thank you for a great 1st tournament for me!

Good afternoon coaches!

Hope you all have rested and recovered from the tournament.  Thank you for all your hard work and dedication by working with incredible students.  I was very impressed with the amount of enthusiasm observed at the awards ceremony.  It was a great science filled day!

I will be sending out a google form later this week to evaluate the Greenville Tournament.  Please take time to complete the form and give feedback on how we can improve the tournament for you and your students for next year.

We have an Air Trajectory device found on campus and an extra arduino from the competition.  If you lost any of these items please email me by this Friday.

Thank you for all your efforts!  You are making a HUGE difference in the kids lives and this is why you are a teacher!!!

Enjoy!

Ann

Division C scores posted

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay, here are the Division C scores from Saturday's tournament.

Division C Split Scores (medals and trophies come from this)

Division C Combined Scores (FPOWS come from this)
Moving on to the state tournament - each school who received a state tournament bid will receive information from me about logistics after scores are final.  If your SCHOOL did not receive a state bid, but you took first place on the combined V & JV scores, you will be invited to States to compete in that event.  I will contact the teams with FPOWS.  It will take me a little longer to do that, stay tuned.
Your Pitt County elementary tournament is next weekend, March 5 - if you would like to help, please contact the tournament directors!

B Scores posted

Good morning coaches,

I hope that you  and your kids had a great time yesterday!

Below are the score sheets for the  B tournament.  Unfortunately, some data from Div C got erased after the awards, so I need to get the hard copy score sheets out tomorrow when I get to the office to fix a few things and then I will email Div C coaches with scores again.  If you see a discrepancy of any kind, please let me know.  All scores become final at 5pm on Wednesday.

It's About Time and Food Science For Division C

Division C Coaches,

If you have students competing in "It's About Time", please have them bring goggles to the event if possible. The rules did not specify that they needed goggles so we will not DQ them if they don't have goggles. We will provide a pair if they do not have goggles but it will be very helpful if they could bring their own goggles. Please let me know if you have any additional questions about the event.

Also we need all Food Science Notebooks impounded no later than 8:30 am to the Sci/Tech building 342.

Good Luck!

Latest Updates for Saturday

Greetings NCSO Coaches!

We are excited to have you as a participant in this Saturday's NCSO Greenville Tournament! Contained in this message are some important logistics to know about the event and to communicate with your team.

Parking: Participants, coaches and families will need to park in the main parking lot identified in the map included. Buses may drop students off in the circle near Wright Auditorium, but then need to park in the main parking lot.

Event Locations & Schedules: New schedules with room locations will be posted in here no later than Tuesday.

Home Bases: Home base schedules be in your packet when you pick it up on Saturday.

Food: Make sure to bring food for your homebase area.  ECU Student Stores might be open but there is a McDonald’s, Mike’s Deli, and Arby’s close by campus.

Impoundment: Impound will take place at the event site 30 minutes prior to the start of the vent at the location of the event. Anyone may take the apparatus to be impounded. All impounds will be given to an event leader...not simply left at the location. Please remind your students to pick up their materials after the events.

Exhibits: We are excited to have Dr. Terri Woods back to set up the earthquake and volcano mapping event again this year.  She is also having her virtual topography set up too in a classroom.  I will have the location for that to share in a later email.

Volunteers: We will have lots of ECU volunteers available to help anyone find their event.  A map will also be included in your packet at registration.

Required Materials: Please be sure to bring eye protection, aprons, scissors, timers, etc. as noted for selected events in the Coaches Manual, Event Rules and Clarifications on the NCSO webpages. Failure to do so may result in a scoring penalty or disqualification, especially for chemistry-related events.

Students with Special Needs: Please alert us ASAP regarding any accommodations required for students with special needs.

Scoring & Arbitration: We will have people at the registration area all day to answer questions you may have. If you have an arbitration or concern about how an event was run, come to the scoring room and someone will assist you.

Good Morning everyone,

Here are some dimensions of the rooms for the following events.

Air Trajectory:  Sci/Tech Atrium (same as last year)

Elastic Launched Glider and Wright Stuff:  Sci/Tech building room OC 307 and 309.  The room is a huge lecture hall with stadium seating.  The back of the room is 10' and widens to 20' in the front of the room.

Scrambler and Electric Vehicle:  Mendenhall Student Center in the basement.  The floor is a concrete surface.

If you have any questions please email Ann McClung at mcclunga15@ecu.edu

Online Rosters

Hello all,

We are moving to a new scoring program this year and I think that you will really like it.
The new program does require that you enter your team rosters online this year.  Here is the user manual;  I am your point of contact for any glitches or problems that you find along the way.
You will not need to turn in a paper roster when you check in for the tournament, but we will still need Photo Consents and Vandalism & Behavior forms signed.
Please try this sooner rather than later in case you do encounter a glitch.  You can log in and edit rosters right up until the morning of the tournament.
So far, we have found that the system sometimes glitches with the Firefox browser, but works well with Chrome and Safari.  Biggest mistake coaches are making - do NOT register a new account, use the 'forgot your password' link, I have already registered you in the system with this email account.
Good luck!
