Did you know that every year NC Science Olympiad partners with museums in Raleigh to provide a fun day of STEM that is open to participants and the public? This past weekend, January 12, 2019, NCSO held two Invitationals for the upcoming tournament season where students could test their skill in advance of competition.
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
The first was held at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for Divisions B and C students. Students were eager to test their boomilevers and ping pong parachutes. Executive Director Kim Gervase was on hand to provide feedback on ways to improve before competition. The invitational also had other events to practice skills including circuits, anatomy and physiology, disease detectives, duct tape challenge, and many more. In addition to NCSO events, museum staff were on hand to walk students through exhibits, provide presentations, and provide their own unique events.
