NC Science Olympiad
Division A
North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) is growing in Division A tournaments (Grades 3-6)! For the 2012 - 2013 school year, tournaments are being offered in various areas of the State. These locations and dates are posted below. If there is a tournament near you, start a team and participate in that tournament!

NCSO is currently seeking more elementary tournament host sites. Because Elementary Science Olympiad is new, many areas of NC do not yet have local elementary tournaments. Tournaments in your area may also have a restriction on participation and/or have too many teams already registered. Local Education Agencies, private, public, and home schools, non-profits, home, and other groups interested in starting an elementary science olympiad tournament should contact Carly Redelman, cvredelm@ncsu.edu.

NCSO's elementary events were developed by North Carolina Master Elementary Teachers. The events align with the NC Standard Course of Study and what teachers are already doing in the classroom. Further, these events are well balanced between the various science disciplines, requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and applications. Olympic-style medals are awarded to top placing individuals in each event. Team trophies are also awarded to top placing teams at each tournament.
