This includes: rules binder (*Note: for Div B & C, you will NOT receive a rules manual. You need to register and download your own free copy from the National Science Olympiad store HERE starting September 4), dinner on Friday evening, lunch on Saturday and access to all sessions.
There will be soda and snacks available for purchase on Saturday as well.
Friday, Oct 4
*Extra – New Coach Bootcamp for first & second year coaches. Included in your registration fee, come spend a few hours wrapping your head around how to best help and grow your team and ask all the Olympiad questions that keep you up at night.* 12- 4pm on Friday!
*New – Citizen Science workshop – for scholarship winners only. 10-3pm. Get energized for doing impactful science with your students as Rob Dunn and his colleagues take you through lesson plans and strategies for collecting data.
Registration begins at 5pm, dinner is from 5:30 – 6:30. There will then be a variety of in-depth 2-hour sessions on Friday night, schedule to follow. that will include:
Bottle Rockets 101 – learn the best bottle rocket tricks from the National event supervisor
Pasta Tower – how to get past the pasta monstronsities
New Coach 101 – Congrats, you are an Olympiad coach! Now what?
Detector Building *walk-in* – come see what this new event is all about, build a sensor and then come back Saturday for an in-depth session on how to use it
Super Sleuths/Crimebusters Lab – come experience the entire lab event that your students will participate in. Lab attire – long sleeves, pants and closed-toed shoes.
Elastic Launched Gliders – How to trim for better flights.
Saturday Oct 5
Registration opens at 7:30am.
Sessions are 1-hour long and run continuously from 8am – 5pm. Each session is run at least twice, but it is impossible to cover everything by yourself. Either pick the most important sessions or bring a friend!
We will publish the schedule HERE as soon as it is finalized.
Crimebusters/Forensics Lab – come experience the entire lab event that your students will participate in.
There will be no official break for lunch, but it will be available before the 11:00 session starts so that you can either take a break and eat in the cafeteria or grab a sandwich and go to another session.
Back by popular demand – the swap meet! We have a truckload of donated science and teaching materials from various partners that will be out for the taking starting Friday evening. You do not have to contribute in order to take things, but if you have ‘stuff’ that you think others could use, please bring it along!
The NCSO store will be open for business Friday and Saturday with everything we have to help your teams this year.
